fantasy romance author & poet

Leia Talon

This too shall pass, the goddess whispers. She takes another strand. Deftly, gently, stardust smiling, weaves it with my hand.”
~ from Shelta’s Songbook

Poetry and music are part of my essence. They provide emotional release and a way to create something beautiful out of pain, or to capture a moment before it fades away.

That’s where my writing started: in poems and songwriting, and my love of nature.

Nature nurtures me. Inspires me. Trees teach me to sway and listen. Water teaches me to flow and get clear. The sky teaches me to be spacious, to honor the darkness as much as the light, and to remember that tomorrow is another day.

Though I often neglect my instruments to focus on writing, there’s nothing like bringing out my twelve-string guitar and singing something that makes me swoon or smile. And I almost always listen to music when writing or editing.

“One good thing about music,
when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
~ Bob Marley

I find inspiration in everyday moments and all kinds of people. Some of the authors I love include Leigh Bardugo, Cassandra Clare, Sarah J Maas, Susanna Kearsley, Kristen Britain, Tamora Pierce, Guy Gavriel Kay, Douglas Adams, Tolkien, and Rumi.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I will meet you there.” ~ Rumi
